I also cannot load Hoyles Card Games 2005. Bought twin pack with Card Games and Friday Night Poker. Friday Night Poker is installed and working but Card Games has never worked and I would like it to. Have also tried uninstalling, repairing etc. Any help would be appreciated.

These games are no longer supported by Encore Technical Support. They are 10 years old and are not guaranteed to work on the latest operating systems.

Under Hoyle Card Games 2005, you may experience the behavior outlined in this posting:

For Hoyle Friday Night Poker, I was able to get it to work somewhat under Windows 8.1 but I created folder called C:\Hoyle Poker and installed to that. It does not seem to like the 64 bit systems due to the way the directory structures are. The same goes for 64 bit Vista and 7. But it's not guaranteed to run.

Thank you. Friday Night Poker works fine, I have no problems with it. My machine is 32bit and I have tried updating video card, deleting temp files, cleanup, defragment etc etc. Think the disk was faulty from the start as Friday Night Poker worked without any problems and still does. Maybe the bin is the best place for Cards Disk.

SUCCESS:
After trying everything to get my Hoyles Card Games 2005 disk to work I finally had success - this is what I did. With the disk in the computer:
Right Click on Hoyles Card Games 2005 icon. Go to Properties then Compatibility. Tick: Run this in Compatibility Mode. I highlighted Windows 98/Windows Me.
Then tick: Disable visual themes, Disable desktop composition, Disable display scaling on hight DEI settings and also Tick Run this program as an administrator. OK.
Then back to Hoyles 2005 icon. Right click and highlight: Run as Administrator.OK
It worked for me. All my other Hoyles games worked except for Cards 2005 and it is now working too. Good luck.
